Thomas 97125 Bouillante

Voir le trajet

Located on the seafront in Bouillante, Thomas’s Bath is a unique natural site where visitors can enjoy a small pool of hot water (capacity: 10 people) fed by a volcanic spring that gushes forth at over 70°C, then mixes with seawater to create a bathing temperature of around 35–45°C, depending on the tide.
The hot water, naturally rich in minerals, is particularly appreciated at the end of the day for a moment of relaxation facing the sea. The site is also renowned for its peaceful atmosphere at sunset, when the light softens and the setting becomes even more pleasant.

🌿 Why we love this spot

  • natural pool of hot volcanic water
  • easy (but watch out for rocks) and quick access (short path: 3-minute walk from the parking lot)
  • unique, relaxing seaside experience
  • pleasant, intimate setting without tourist infrastructure
  • beautiful spot at sunset

♨️ Things to know

The temperature depends heavily on the tide and the water level in the pool:

  • Too much water in the pool → the water gets cooler (temperature close to that of the sea). Cold water is therefore often linked to a strong inflow of seawater.
  • Little water in the pool → the water can get very hot, even too hot. Swimming may not be possible at certain times
